Ardha-naa-reesh-wa-rar is a manifestation of Lord Shiva. Once, Parvathi, Shiva's wife, mistakenly assumed that another woman has captured her Lord's heart, and retreated beyond his reach in grief. Shiva, After clearing the misunderstanding, held her so tightly to him that they merged into a single entity - half man,half woman. This particular Hand crafted Piece of Ardhanaareeshwarar is a beautiful display of this Cosmic unity.
