Kanakadhara Stotram Posted on April 21, 2015 by admin Reply Once Sankaracharya was going to few houses to take bhiksha and came across a poor womans hut. The woman could not find anything to offer the saint. She searched all over and finally found a old Amla fruit ( nelli kani in tamil ). The shy woman had immense devotion and didnt want to send the saint empty handed and offered the amla fruit to Sankaracharya. The saint realized the womens devotion irrespective of being poor, and immediately started singing twenty one slokas praising Goddess Mahalakshmi praying her to bless the poor women by driving her poverty and grant her riches. As Sanakaracharya was singing Kanakadhara stotram, Mahalakshmi showered Golden amla fruit like rain infront of the poor womens hut. How beautiful is the devotion of the poor lady and how great is the saint Adi Sankaracharya who sang in praise of Mahalakshmi and beyond all this how graceful is this Goddess Mahalakshmi. Adi Sankaracharya has sung this “Kanakadhara Stotra” for welfare of everyone who is suffering their past karma and suffering in poverty. Thejus presents our divine offering of Mahalakshmi Idol with 21 Lakshmi coins and a booklet of Kanakadhara Stotram.
